About us

Our objectives

The AATC was founded in 2015 as the first professional body for quality-oriented language service providers in Austria with the aim of increasing awareness of the broad spectrum of translation services. Our focus is on raising awareness of the importance of complying with quality standards in the industry. These are based on the internationally valid ISO standard 17100 for language services. ISO 17100 defines the minimum standards in terms of skills, the availability and use of resources for the provision of high-quality language services.

Ensuring that this quality standard is included in tenders creates transparency and ultimately increases planning certainty with regard to costs and time input. It also guarantees that private and public funds are used with care and attention.

“At the AATC we see ourselves as a bridge between companies in Austria and international business as well as between our member companies, freelancers and universities. As the first and only such professional association in Austria, we want to share our knowledge, explain our services to all our stakeholders and raise awareness for compliance with quality standards.”

Trisha Kovacic-Young
President of the AATC

The Association

There are currently eleven members in the AATC. Each member company is an audited quality provider and certified according to the international ISO standard for the production of translations.

We have members from all over Austria. They are part of an international network in their clients’ respective target countries.

“AATC members are qualified consultants as well as project managers and understand what clients need. They define the success factors and can take responsibility for a project throughout the entire cycle – from its initiation, planning, execution, monitoring & controlling and closing.”
